PMMA Lighting Profiles

Acrylic (PMMA) lighting extrusion profiles chosen for light transmission, colour stability and the fine surface detail that diffusers and lenses need.

What we supply

PMMA is the default material for anything that has to look clear and stay clear. It transmits more light than polycarbonate, holds fine prism detail better, and resists yellowing under UV – which is why diffusers, lenses and decorative covers are usually acrylic.

The limitation is toughness: PMMA is more brittle than PC. Where a cover may be struck, we either move to PC or use a co-extrusion that puts PMMA on the optical surface and PC where strength is needed.

Options we build into the profile

  • Fine prism geometries held accurately for controlled beam spread
  • Opal and frosted diffusion at a defined transmittance
  • UV-stable grades for exterior and signage applications
  • Co-extrusion with PC where impact resistance is also required
  • Colour matched to RAL or Pantone
  • Protective film and packing to your specification

Frequently Asked Questions

PMMA transmits more than PC in the visible range and holds that transmission over time because it resists UV yellowing. The exact figure depends on grade, thickness and surface, so we confirm it on a prototype rather than quoting a generic number.
Yes – it is one of the most UV-stable optical plastics available and is widely used for exterior and signage lighting.
Yes. Acrylic replicates prism geometry well, which is why it is the usual choice for prismatic diffusers and linear lenses.
