Most customers come to us with one of four things: a finished drawing, a CAD file, a sample piece from an existing fitting, or a sketched cross-section with dimensions. All four are workable. The smaller the brief, the more we fill in during engineering – but we would rather start from a sketch than have you delay the project.

From Drawing to Production
- Drawing review – section, tolerances and optical targets checked for extrudability
- Profile engineering – wall thickness, radii and material flow balanced for stable extrusion
- Material selection – PC, PMMA, co-extrusion or a specified compound
- Tooling design – extrusion die designed for your section
- Mould manufacturing – die and calibration tooling machined
- Prototype – first-off sections produced for your approval
- Extrusion – production run on a matched extrusion line
- Cutting – cut to length, drilled, notched or machined as required
- Inspection – dimension, appearance and optical checks before release
- Packaging – protective film, bundles and cartons to your specification
Tooling is the step that decides everything downstream. A die designed properly for the section runs stable, holds tolerance and needs fewer adjustments - which is why we design and machine tooling in-house rather than outsourcing it.
Frequently Asked Questions
A drawing is ideal – PDF, DWG or STEP. If you have no drawing, send a sample piece and we measure and reverse-engineer the section. Dimensions, material, colour, optical target, application and estimated annual quantity complete the picture.
New tooling is normally charged for the development of your section. Tooling and piece price are quoted together after the drawing review so you can see both before committing.
Yes. Small changes to an existing section – wall thickness, a clip feature, a colour or surface change – can often be handled by adjusting tooling rather than replacing it.
Drawings and tooling are treated as confidential and we are happy to sign an NDA before you release files.
